Natural Walnut Handle — Heat-Insulating, Comfortable to Hold · Precision-Drilled Ceramic Filter — Clean Pour, No Leaves · Tight-Fitting Lid — Sealed for Heat Retention
Some teas are worth slowing down for — wherever you happen to be. This portable tea set is designed for the drinker who takes their practice seriously enough to bring it along: a heat-resistant glass teapot with a natural walnut handle, a ceramic filter with precision-drilled holes, a snug-fitting lid with a tight seal, and a porcelain tasting cup, all housed in a compact hard-shell travel case that fits in a bag without thought.
The components are sized for intention: the teapot holds 300ml — enough for two to three pours of a quality oolong or rock tea — and the cup, at 50ml, keeps each serving at the temperature and volume where the tea is most expressive. The set is designed around the gongfu method, but works equally well for anyone who wants a clean, considered cup on the go.
Set Contents & Dimensions
Teapot (borosilicate glass, walnut handle, ceramic filter): 300ml capacity — W 8.2cm × H 12.2cm
Tasting cup (porcelain): 50ml capacity — W 5.4cm × H 3.7cm
Travel case (semi-rigid shell, leather pull tab, full zipper): fits teapot and cup
Materials: borosilicate glass, natural walnut, ceramic, porcelain
Suitable for: loose-leaf tea, gongfu-style brewing, hot and cold infusion
How to Use
1. Rinse the teapot and cup with hot water before brewing to pre-warm the vessel and remove any storage odors.
2. Place loose-leaf tea in the ceramic filter insert. For oolong or rock tea: approximately 5–6g per 300ml. For green tea or white tea: 3–4g per 300ml.
3. Pour water at the appropriate temperature for your tea (167–176°F for green and light oolong; 195–205°F for rock oolong and black tea).
4. Steep for 45–90 seconds for the first infusion, adjusting for subsequent steeps. The glass body lets you monitor the liquor color directly.
5. Pour into the 50ml cup in a single continuous motion. The ceramic filter retains the leaves; the pour is clean and controlled.
6. The teapot yields 3–4 infusions from a single measure of quality loose-leaf tea.
7. After use, remove the filter insert, rinse the teapot and cup under warm water, and allow to air dry before returning to the travel case.
FAQ
Q: Is this set suitable for use on planes or in hotel rooms?
A: Yes. The travel case is sized for carry-on use and passes standard airline security without issue. In a hotel room, the teapot works with water from an electric kettle — which is standard equipment in most hotels outside the United States. For domestic US travel, a portable travel kettle is a useful addition.
Q: Can I use this set for cold brew?
A: Yes. Add your tea leaves to the filter, fill with cold filtered water, seal the lid, and refrigerate for 4–8 hours depending on the tea type. The borosilicate glass is suitable for cold temperatures. The tight-fitting lid prevents refrigerator odors from entering during steeping.
Q: How do I clean the ceramic filter?
A: Rinse the filter under warm running water after each use. For deeper cleaning, soak in warm water for a few minutes and rinse again. The precision-drilled holes clear easily with water pressure; a soft brush can be used if needed. Do not use soap on the filter unless rinsed very thoroughly, as ceramic retains soap odor.
Q: Is the walnut handle attached permanently?
A: The handle is fixed to the teapot body and is not designed to be removed for cleaning. Wipe the handle with a damp cloth as needed — do not submerge it in water or put it in a dishwasher. Over time, the walnut will develop a natural patina from handling.
Q: What teas work best with this set?
A: The 300ml volume and 50ml cup are sized for gongfu-style brewing, which is most rewarding with teas that develop across multiple infusions — oolong (Wuyi rock oolong, Dancong), aged white tea, and high-grade green teas. The ceramic filter handles both tightly rolled and open-leaf styles without adjustment.
