Pristine Qing Xiang — Clean, Luminous Fragrance · Six Years of Measured Aging · Ancient Arbor Terroir in the Cup
Rising above the forests of Menghai County in Xishuangbanna, Nannuo Mountain is one of Yunnan’s most historically significant tea-producing regions — home to ancient arbor trees that have been cultivated by the Hani people for generations. This 2018 Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake is sourced from Nannuo Mountain ancient arbor trees (gu shu): old-growth trees whose deep roots, unhurried growth, and undisturbed forest environment produce leaves of exceptional aromatic clarity.
Sun-dried, hand-sorted, and stone-pressed in 2018, this 357g cake has had six years to move through its formative phase — the initial vibrancy of a young sheng softening into a more composed expression, while the signature qing xiang — clean, fresh, and faintly floral — remains the defining thread of every session.

Q: How does Nannuo Mountain sheng compare to Banzhang or Yiwu?
Where Banzhang tends toward power and Yiwu toward warmth, Nannuo Mountain is characterized by its clean, luminous qing xiang — a fresh, airy floral profile with a lighter body and a particularly clear, refreshing finish. It is a more approachable style of sheng, well-suited to those building their raw pu-erh palate.
Q: What is gu shu, and why does it matter for sheng pu-erh?
Gu shu refers to old-growth tea trees, typically 100+ years old, grown in natural forest conditions without intervention. Their deep root systems draw from a wider mineral profile than cultivated bushes, producing leaves with greater aromatic complexity, finer texture, and stronger aging potential.
Q: Is a 2018 sheng ready to drink now?
Yes. Six years of aging have resolved much of the initial sharpness common in young sheng. This cake is in a pleasant early drinking window — the qing xiang is bright and present, while the structure has begun to settle. It will continue to develop for another decade or more with proper storage.
Q: How should I store the cake?
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space away from direct sunlight and strong odors. Avoid airtight containers — sheng pu-erh requires gentle airflow to age correctly. An unsealed ceramic crock or breathable cotton-wrapped storage in a stable environment is ideal.
Q: How many sessions does one cake yield?
At 5g per gongfu session with 10–12 steeps, a single 357g cake yields approximately 70+ brewing sessions.
ovanyu sources each Nannuo Mountain ancient tree cake with full traceability to origin — selected for the purity of its qing xiang, the integrity of its leaf, and the aging potential that only genuine gu shu material delivers.
