Triple-Flower Scenting: Jasmine + Gardenia Champaca · Two-Form Blend, One Complementary Cup · Roasted Green Tea Base

Two Forms. Three Flowers. One Uncommonly Rich Aroma.

From Hengxian County, Guangxi — the jasmine heartland of China — comes a jasmine tea unlike the familiar single-flower styles. ovanyu’s Silver Snail & Curled Snail Jasmine Tea combines two elegantly hand-shaped tea forms with a triple-flower scenting process: fresh jasmine blossoms (Jasminum sambac) layered alongside Michelia alba (white champaca, known in Chinese as báilán) — an aromatic pairing historically used by master tea makers in Guangxi to add floral depth and a subtle, creamy top note to jasmine’s signature sweetness.

The Silver Snail (yin luo) is a tightly coiled spiral of tender buds and young leaves, silver-tipped and downy. The Curled Snail (qu luo) is a looser, more rustic curl — earthier in form, with a warm, full body in the cup. Together in one pouch, they offer a layered tasting experience: bright and floral up front, then round and lingering on the finish.

Scented in the traditional zhonghua method using our 2026 Hengxian harvest — the richest and most fragrant expression we’ve produced to date.

Why This Blend Stands Apart
  • Triple-Flower Scenting: Jasmine + Gardenia Champaca — Beyond pure jasmine, each batch is scented with fresh Michelia alba blossoms alongside jasmine. The champaca adds a creamy, magnolia-like depth that lifts the aroma into something more complex — floral, warm, and unmistakably distinctive.
  • Two-Form Blend, One Complementary Cup — Silver Snail contributes brightness and a clean floral top note; Curled Snail grounds the blend with a fuller body and rounder finish. The interplay between the two makes each steeping subtly different and endlessly interesting.
  • Roasted Green Tea Base (Hōngqĭng) — The base is a traditional hōngqĭng (baked/roasted green tea) — a style long favored for jasmine scenting because its gentle warmth makes the tea more receptive to fragrance. The result is a fuller, warmer cup than jasmine teas made on steamed green bases.
  • Intensely Rich 2026 Aroma — Produced in Hengxian during peak jasmine season, scented multiple rounds for maximum fragrance saturation. The aroma is bold and immersive from the moment the pouch is opened.
  • Exceptional Multi-Steep Endurance — The dual-form blend and roasted base hold their character across 3–5 full infusions, with the jasmine-champaca fragrance evolving from bright to mellow as the session deepens.

  • Steep time: 60–90 seconds for the first steep; add 20–30 seconds for each subsequent infusion
  • Yields: 3–5 infusions per session

🧊 Cold Brew (Aromatic & Smooth)
  • Amount: 6–8g per 600ml of cold filtered water

/ báilán huā, and why is it used in tea scenting?

A: Michelia alba (white champaca, or báilán in Chinese) is a flowering tree whose blossoms have been used in Guangxi jasmine tea production for generations. Its fragrance is creamy, magnolia-like, and slightly warmer than jasmine — when used alongside jasmine in scenting, it adds a floral depth and roundness that jasmine alone cannot achieve. It’s a traditional technique, not a modern additive.

Q: What is the difference between Silver Snail and Curled Snail?

A: Silver Snail (yin luo) is a tightly coiled form made from tender buds and young leaves — often silver-tipped, with a brighter, more delicate character in the cup. Curled Snail (qu luo) is a looser, slightly more rustic curl, typically fuller-bodied and warmer in flavor. Blended together, they balance brightness and body in a single session.

Q: What is a roasted green tea base (hōngqĭng), and how does it affect flavor?

A: Hōngqĭng (baked green tea) is a style where the tea leaves are dried with gentle radiant heat rather than steaming. This produces a slightly warmer, fuller-bodied green tea that accepts jasmine fragrance more readily than steamed-leaf styles — and contributes a subtle toasty undertone beneath the floral aroma.

Q: How many steepings can I get?

A: Typically 3–5 quality infusions. The aroma shifts from bright and intense in early steeps to warmer and more mellow as the session continues.

Q: Is this tea caffeinated?

A: Yes. As a green tea base, this blend contains moderate natural caffeine — comparable to other premium green teas, and generally lower than coffee.

Q: Is it suitable as a gift?

A: Absolutely. The dual-form presentation, triple-flower origin story, and rich aroma make this one of ovanyu’s most conversation-worthy teas — an ideal gift for curious tea drinkers, entertaining hosts, or anyone who appreciates something genuinely artisanal.
